Here are a few tips to be successful in what could be a very stressful time.
Get your Zzz’s
We all think that craming last minute is a great idea at least once. Spoiler alert! It’s not worth it. Instead dedicate yourself to a good, solid 8 hours. Make sure your surrounding are dark, and quiet. (This means not falling asleep with your phone in your hand.)
Pack a bag a few nights before the big day.
Anything you could need, pencils pens, graphing calculator, paper, and by all means throw in extra batteries. The last thing you need is a useless piece of machinery taking up space. If nothing else, it will give you confidence in being prepared.
Day of the test
Breakfast, is obviously the most important. Don’t overstuff yourself, but make sure it’s balanced with protein, carbs and good fat. You won’t be distracted in the middle of your test with a growling stomach, the constant hunger pains.
Wear something that you know you look good in, but is comfortable. When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you do great!
Last minute glance
Take one last look at your notes, this should only be about 20 minutes. At this point, you know what you know, but it never hurts to glance one last time. Our photographic memory friends will appreciate this.
Last but not least, slow down.
You are prepared, confident and ready. Take a breath and focus. Anytime during the test that you get flustered, inhale deeply. This will give oxygen to the brain, allowing for the temporary block to pass.
Remember to manage your time, and trust your instincts. Your going to do great!
